2012: 120 YEARS OF THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF NITERÓI

A Primeira Igreja Batista de Niterói foi organizada pela PIB do Rio de Janeiro, em 1º de maio de 1892, com sete membros, sendo seis mulheres e um homem, e eram eles: Anna Leandro, Emília Cândida de Freitas, Isabel Trigueira da Costa, Maria Trigueira, Rosa Ramos, Sarah de Freitas e Antônio Manoel Freitas.

The First Baptist Church of Niterói was organized by the PIB of Rio de Janeiro on 1 May 1892, with seven members, six women and one man, and they were: Anna Leandro, Emilia Candida de Freitas, Isabel Trigueira da Costa, Maria Trigueira, Rosa Ramos, Sarah de Freitas and Antonio Manoel Freitas.

Ela se reunia na casa do missionário William Buck Bagby, que foi o Pastor que a organizou, e se situava na Rua São Francisco nº 11 (atual rua Saldanha Marinho), no centro de Niterói.

She gathered the house of the missionary William Buck Bagby, who was the Pastor who organized it, and stood on Rua San Francisco n º 11 (Saldanha Marinho current street) in downtown Niterói.

Na atualidade a PIB de Niterói conta com um templo moderno e uma membresia que está entre as maiores das igrejas que colaboram com a Convenção Batista Brasileira.

A Primeira Igreja Batista de Itambi, que fica na cidade fluminense de Itaboraí, teve suas atividades sociais reconhecidas pela Câmara de Vereadores: no dia 15 de dezembro de 2011 recebeu o título de Utilidade Pública, que foi recebido pelo Pastor da Igreja, Moacyr Junior, em sessão solene da Casa Legislativa.

Com este titulo a Igreja poderá formar uma cooperativa para atender a comunidade e tem respaldo para buscar apoio financeiro de outras instituições.

Todos os anos, no dia 24 de agosto, no Brasil inteiro é relembrada a morte do ex-Presidente Getúlio Vargas, então com 72 anos: sua influência em várias cidades do país sempre foi grande e em Nova Friburgo, na região Serrana do Rio de Janeiro, esta influência se sobressai, valendo notar que a estátua em sua homenagem, na praça que leva o seu nome, foi erigida apenas oito meses depois de sua morte, através de um movimento popular.

A Missionária da Junta de Missões Mundiais, Rosângela Gamba, está exultante e muitos são os motivos para isso: no dia 11 de dezembro de 2011, em Huambo (Angola – país africano onde ela se encontra), realizou-se um culto marcando a abertura do Ministério com Surdos, n a congregação de São Bartolomeu, ocasião em que desceram às águas 22 novos irmãos.

No Rio Kulimahãla, que fica a uns três quilômetros da congregação, foram realizados o batismo de 22 irmãos, entre eles dois surdos, que fizeram subir para onze o quantitativo de surdos batizados.
